Physalis, better known in Madagascar as Pok-Pok, are fruits which come from a plant in the Solanaceae family.
They are native to South America, and have acclimatized very well in Madagascar where they grow in the highlands near the capital Antananarivo.
Physalis have tangy aromas that literally explode in the mouth.
They are low in sugar (less than 300 calories per 100 grams of fruit) and packed with vitamins and antioxidants.
